Etan Cohen to rewrite 'Ghostbusters 3'

A week after actor Dan Aykroyd announced that the long-languishing "Ghostbusters 3" had new writers, it has been revealed that scribe Etan Cohen has joined the project.

Comingsoon.net is reporting Cohen ("Tropic Thunder," "Men in Black 3") has been brought in to rewrite the script.

Last week, Aykroyd told WIVB, "We've got a new writing staff working on it now. It's got to be prefect. That's the whole thing. There's no point in doing it unless it's perfect. So that's what we're up to now."

Last August, the actor said the project was moving forward and could begin filming this past spring, which obviously didn't happen.

The original "Ghostbusters" film hit theaters in 1984 with the sequel following in 1989. The franchise also spawned the animated series "The Real Ghostbusters" and "Extreme Ghostbusters."
