Actor Billy Connolly is the latest to make the trip to Middle Earth, joining the cast of Peter Jackson's two-part adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkein's "The Hobbit."
Jackson made the announcement, stating Connolly will play Dain Ironfoot, a great dwarf and cousin of Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage, "Captain America: The First Avenger")
Connolly's resume include roles in "The Last Samurai," "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" and "The Boondock Saints."
"The Hobbit" will be presented at two films. The first, titled “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” will be released on Dec. 14. The second, titled “The Hobbit: There and Back Again,” is slated for release the following year, on Dec. 13, 2013.
