'All You Need is Kill" is now 'Edge of Tomorrow'

“Edge of Tomorrow” has been announced as the title of the upcoming sci-fi thriller starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, directed by Doug Liman ("The Bourne Identity") and based on the book "All You Need is Kill."

Warner Bros. also released a new poster.

The movie, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, is set for release on June 6, 2014, and the first look at footage from the film will be unveiled by the Studio at this year’s International Comic-Con: San Diego on Saturday, July 20. The announcement was made today (Monday) by Sue Kroll, president, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to give the Comic-Con audience, who’ve always been so supportive of us, the first peek at footage from ‘Edge of Tomorrow.’ The movie has all of us at the Studio very excited, and we can’t wait to see the reactions of fans who know and love the sci-fi genre so well,” Kroll said.

The action of “Edge of Tomorrow” unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.

Bryan Singer's 'H+ The Digital Series' debuts Aug. 8 on YouTube

A futuristic online series, where the human race is hardwired to the Internet, is coming this summer. From producer Bryan Singer ("The Usual Suspects” / "X-Men: First Class"), the live-action web series “H+ The Digital Series” will make its debut Aug. 8 on YouTube.

Directed by Stewart Hendler (“Sorority Row”), and starring an acclaimed international cast that includes Alexis Denisof (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), Amir Arison (“Law & Order: SVU") and David Clayton Rogers (“Jane By Design”), “H+ The Digital Series” takes viewers on an episodic, apocalyptic journey where technology has gone horrifically wrong.

Starting today (Thursday), fans can subscribe to the “H+ The Digital Series” channel on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/HPlusDigitalSeries). In the coming days and weeks leading to launch, viewers will have access to exclusive new content which will provide insight into the origins of "HPlus" and details about this ambitious and innovative digital series.

“Our first venture into the digital space gives us the freedom to engage fans with new content that is immersive, interactive and is tailored to be enjoyed online,” said Singer. “‘H+ The Digital Series’ on YouTube provides us with a strong two-way dialogue with our fans, creating a deeper and ongoing connection.”

'Cloud Atlas' maps course for a Oct. 26 release

Warner Bros. Pictures has officially slated the epic "Cloud Atlas," from filmmakers Lana Wachowski, Tom Tykwer and Andy Wachowski for domestic release on October 26, 2012.

In addition, the studio has acquired rights for the film in the major markets of the UK, France, Spain, Australia, and Japan, with plans to release it in those territories in early 2013. The joint announcement was made Tuesday by Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution, and Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President of International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

"Audiences who have seen an early screening of 'Cloud Atlas' have been elated by its powerful and inspiring story, as well as its breathtaking visuals," Fellman stated. "An October release in North America is the perfect window to showcase this epic film."

"We are proud to be distributing this remarkable motion picture in a number of key markets," Kwan Vandenberg said. "We look forward to working with these visionary filmmakers and the other international distribution partners to bring 'Cloud Atlas' to moviegoers around the world."

Academy Award® winners Tom Hanks ("Philadelphia," "Forrest Gump") and Halle Berry ("Monster's Ball") lead an international cast that includes Oscar winner Jim Broadbent ("Iris"), Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, James D'Arcy, Zhou Xun and Keith David, with Oscar winner Susan Sarandon ("Dead Man Walking") and Hugh Grant. Each member of the ensemble appears in multiple roles as the stories move through time.

'Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell' movie in the works?

The popular video game series "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell" could soon be sneaking its way into movie theaters.

The fist game was released in 2002.

Deadline is reporting that a number of studios are hovering around the project, including Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures, which may be the current frontrunner.

The Ubisoft video game series consists of five installments (plus a PSP edition), the first of which was released in 2002. The games follow protagonist Sam Fisher, a highly-trained agent of Third Echelon, a fiction black-ops division inside the NSA. A sixth game, "Splinter Cell: Blacklist" is set for release in 2013.

As of June 2010, the series had sold more than 22 million copies. It has also spawns a series of novels which currently stands at six.

The video game company launched Ubisoft Motion Pictures in January to handle film and TV productions, and "Splinter Cell" was among the properties targeted for a film adaptation. The others were "Assassin's Creed" and "Ghost Recon," also endorsed by Clancy.
