Super Bowl Comercials: 'The Avengers' trailer

Hollywood had quite a night during tonight's Super Bowl, with a bevy of films showing new footage in commercials.

Up first is Marvel's "The Avengers," which debuted a 30 second spot packed quite a lot of action in a small package.



Like in the full trailer, the spot begins with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) talking about dire the situation is, necessitating the formation of the Avengers team.

From there we get some quick cuts to the various team members, including apparently the first meeting between Captain American (Chris Evans) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.).

"I still believe in heroes," Fury says as we watch a panning shot of the entire team, which also includes Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson).

Directed by Joss Whedon ("Serenity"), "The Avengers" is one of the biggest can't-miss blockbusters of this summer.

Tim Burton wants Robert Downey Jr. for 'Pinocchio'

Tim Burton is eying Robert Downey Jr. ("Sherlock Holmes") for proposed Warner Bros. live-action adaptation of "Pinocchio."

According to Heat Vision, Burton wants Downey to play Pinocchio's father Geppetto, around whom this particular adaptation will revolve.

Based on a script from Bryan Fuller ("Pushing Daisies"), the movie would follow Geppetto as he sets out to find his missing marionette.

While neither the director or actor have deals with Warner Bros. for the project, Heat Vision quotes various souces saying Burton is "keen" to direct the film and Downey has "serious interest" in both the the film and working with Burton.

Downeys partnering to tell U.S.S. Indianapolis story

Anyone who has seen "Jaws" remembers the harrowing tale the hardened Quint tells of the fate of the U.S.S. Indianapolis, which went down in the Pacific in the waning days of World War II, leaving its men to fend for themselves during five days on the open sea while they were harried by countless sharks.

One such "Jaws" fan was Hunter Scott, who was 11 years old in 1996 when he decided to make the Indianapolis the subject of his National History Day project. It eventually led him to begin a campaign to clear the name of the Indianapolis' captain, Charles McVay, a journey which would take him to the halls of Congress.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros., along with Robert and Susan Downey, are partnering to tell Scott's story.

Robert Schenkkan ("The Pacific," "The Quiet American") is attached to write the screenplay.
