"The Hunger Games" is on fire. Or at least its poster is.
Lionsgate has revealed the first "motion poster" for the adaptation of Suzanne Collins' best selling novel. The story follows Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence, "Winter's Bone"), who is chosen to take part in the Hunger Games, an annual battle to the death involving two teens chosen from the 12 districts of the fictional nation of Panem.
The poster features Katniss' signature mockingjay pin with the catchphrase, "May the odds be ever in your favor."
To see the poster in all its glory, follow through the cut.
You have to admit, the thing is pretty. Hopefully the movie is just as compelling.
To date, the cast also includes Josh Hutcherson ("Bridge to Terabithia"), Donald Sutherland ("The Mechanic") Lenny Kravitz ("Precious"), Woody Harrelson ("Zombieland"), Liam Hemsworth ("The Last Song"), Elizabeth Banks ("The Next Three Days"), Paula Malcomson ("Sons of Anarchy"), Wes Bentley ("American Beauty"), Stanley Tucci ("The Lovely Bones") and newcomer Willow Shields ("Beyond the Blackboard").
Gary Ross ("Seabiscuit," "Pleasantville") is directing based on a screenplay from Bill Ray ("State of Play"). The film is set for a March 23, 2012, release.
